will have (public) records of LLC's / Corporations in that state; however, depending on the state they can be quite limited. In most states its only the corporate officers that are listed -- not owners -- although for small businesses they're probably the same. In some states they only have a registered agent listed to receive process (lawsuits) which maybe an attorney or other similar firm.
