I'm in the biz (EMR/EHR) and, despite perceived issues with privacy (which is heavily regulated by HIPAA), it's probably the best trend to hit healthcare since the invention of the stethoscope.

Most EHR's has built-in checks to prevent drs from making mistakes (especially in prescriptions), and allows for your chart to be portable (meaning if you're halfway around the world, your dr can have access to your complete medical record almost instantaneously). This might very-well save your life.
