In reply to the discussion: Any DU'ers out there, 55+ looking for a job? [View all]When I was first starting in the work force I was "too young." Now I'm "too old." The frustrating thing is we're "old school" and know what a work ethic is. We don't sit on Facebook or Twitter all day, we're not texting our friends when we should be working, we get to work early and are willing to stay late if necessary, we're willing to go outside our job description to do what needs to be done and we're the ones LEAST likely to be drawn into office drama. In fact, we're the calming force.
I also find it more than a coincidence that the economic collapse happened JUST BEFORE the oldest boomers started to retire. Pensions wiped out. Life savings wiped out. Investments wiped out. And no time to recover even if there WERE jobs available to us. How convenient.
