10. Eliminating these tax deductions is a progressive change to the tax code

Sometimes I think Democrats only oppose eliminating these deductions because Republicans have done such a good job of spinning "broadening the base" as "tax the moochers" that they actually believe that that is what these sorts of changes do. (Republicans spin it this way so they don't lose their voters).
