11. That is my suspicion

I think Cantor kept this to himself (+ a select few) and tried to push Petraeus into fudging some info that would lead to impeaching the President. That is why the President wasn't told, nor any Democrats.

Patraeus didn't play the game so they exposed him, forcing his resignation.
