I always thought he looked like some caricature of a "church lady".. at least the version of church lady I grew up around, scary. I had a scary 4th grade teacher that looked like him, or he looks like her. She was mean as he appears to be, totally over-zealous and inflexible about trivia so she'd have an excuse to treat me like shit. She hated me. He brings back some rather traumatic memories just looking at him.

And with the "turtle" idea, it reminds me of a cartoon from the 1960's, Tudor Turtle and Wizard Lizard. the turtle was always chasing after improbable dreams and scenarios and begged the wizard to send him to be where he dreamed of. The wizard would relent and transport him, through magic, to the middle of his fantasy. The turtle would rapidly get himself into untenable situations and cry out, "Help Mr. Wizard! Help!" And the story always ended with the wizard's incantation, "Tweedle, Deedle, Drazzel, Drome... time for this one to come home." As the turtle spun around as if in a whirlpool he awoke in the wizard's home, thanked Mr. Wizard for saving him from a dangerous situation and discovered a moral to his misadventure.

So I say about Mr. Mitch... Tweedle, deedle, drazzle, drome, time for THAT one to go home!
