If it did, it would have to raise taxes quite a lot because the state gets so much federal dollars. That's the irony. The Texas government would then have to become exactly what the secessionists despise.

I don't know if they comprehend that if it's not attached to the US, Texas would look a lot like Ukraine. I'm not certain Texans want to cut their ego down to that size.
