Showing Original Post only (View all)Time span from indictment to Trump actually serving sentence? [View all]
As cynical as I am about how our legal system has been lethargically handling Trump's many crimes, I think we're finally at the point where at least one investigation will bear fruit with at least one indictment, hopefully within the next six months.
That doesn't mean I feel any better about how things will go after that, in terms of time until verdict, and then time until some sort of sentence (probably not actual, real prison) is carried out.
- I expect a long delay after indictment until trial, with many, many delays requested and granted.
- I expect a ridiculously drawn-out trial.
- If convicted, I expect a ridiculously long gap after conviction until a sentencing hearing.
- I expect Trump will be allowed to remain free until all appeals are exhausted, all the way up to the SCOTUS.
What do you think? This poll question presumes indictment leads to a guilty verdict.

I believe he'll be indicted but he'll flee before conviction, if not before trial.
