(26,355 posts)70. Hard to believe I'm having this conversation on a progressive web site...
Employers pay women less than men for the same work
A valid complaint if it were true.
Ask Lilly Ledbetter about that...
Women have a harder time getting many jobs than men do
Citation?
Here's but one example. But really, it's not hard to go to scholar.google.com and run a search on "gender discrimination"

So women can volunteer to go to a church that gives them a list of rules to voluntarily follow?
And this is different for men?
And this is different for men?
You ever see female priests in the Roman Catholic Church? I haven't, and in fact, nobody has, because it's not allowed. Pope Maladict still decrees that the priesthood be a boys-only club.
And how voluntary is going to a religious organization when you've been raised going to it since you were a baby, you were steeped in the culture, and their memes (including misogynistic memes) affect how you and everyone around were socialized? Sure you can leave, as long as you don't mind losing friends, family, much of your social life... Some people can do that (I have), many can't.
What rights are they denied?
Are you really this obtuse? Crawl out of your man-cave and look around you. Gender bias is pervasive.
As for my personal specifics? Only raised in a religion where the canon holds men to be superior to women; went to schools where boys were steered to math, science, engineering, business, while girls were steered to home-ec; I got respected more in college earning my degrees and on the job working as a software engineer than women earning the same degrees and working the same jobs; I don't have right-wing religious fanatics in government telling me what I can and can't do with my testicles. etc. etc. etc.

Very well spoken. There needs to be equality on all sides and in all respects. nt

That's all you have? Clearly defined empirical evidence that supports your claim perfectly?

Meh, speaking as a man and a general member of the Privileged Bastards Club, I can suck it up.

Out of curiosity, how do you feel you are privileged by your gender?
