I'm not rooted in some tradition about how many stars are on the flag, but I don't like the round shape of the field aesthetically. I don't think it's appealing and I'm sure many agree.
Adding stars would ruffle the feathers of conservatives enough without finding opposition from those who are used to the square field. I don't think it'd fly (pun).
