8. If they can afford to buy US Treasuries, they can afford to pay highter taxes.

They're quite willing to loan the US money, but not pay it in taxes. Ergo, they have the money, they just don't want to give it up.

Sort of like how poor people don't need any help because they can afford new sneakers. Or own a microwave oven.
