13. Making quasi-traditional dinner...

Nov 2022

For two, maybe three, at my hiking buddy's house. Turkey, stuffing*, potatoes and yams mashed together, green bean casserole, apple salad, pumpkin pie and apple pie. Afterward we'll sit around and play cards and games until I decide I've had enough and go home.

*Friend is allergic to sage so I'm making a bacon, garlic and walnut stuffing with Morel mushrooms and green bell peppers - uses rosemary and thyme. The gravy is drippings and currant jelly, sounds crazy but it's amazingly good. I've made it in the past and everyone was impressed, got the recipe from a sister some forty-five years ago.

Hope you have a good day.

ETA: And cranberry relish, fresh berries and an orange, like a chutney, a little brandy helps! None of that canned stuff!
