2. I was 8 years old and remember it

I remember watching the news during supper throughout the 1960s, every night hearing and seeing reports of body counts, dead and injured, on both sides.

Then there was this massacre, not just body counts but a story about a village of people, civilians who were slaughtered. I understood what prejudice was and also understood this story was about hating those not like us or not on our side.

I was already impacted by hate and war during my formative years. I'd witnessed (on TV) the assassinations of MLK and RFK, never understood why folks wanted to kill others.

I've tried to spread light and love, advocated for justice and peace throughout my life.
This event helped to form that philosophy.
