And this would seem like a good thing, and it will be in some respects. But one possible negative is that Republicans are going to try to destroy Social Security and Medicare now since they don't care about the demographic who relies on them voting for them anymore.

Social Security has been the 3rd rail for a long time, if that rail no longer matters to Republicans they'll gut it the first chance they get.
