We need to do something to get more people into STEM careers. College algebra and then Calculus are the first exposure many students get to problem solving in real world situations. The world and industry are full of story problems and we need more engineers to solve them.

We’re way behind in producing scientists, mathematicians, and engineers. If this isn’t addressed we’re not going to be able to compete in the economies of the future.
