3. India's democracy's in huge trouble, rated "partly free," slipped to 66

on Freedom House's Global Freedom Scale over this last year, the sixth yearly decline in a row. By most measures it no longer qualifies as an "electoral democracy."

Russia's listed a 19, "not free," with outrageously bogus elections. The U.S. has slipped to 83, "free." Canada 98, "free."

Explanation of Global Freedom Score: Freedom House rates peopleís access to political rights and civil liberties in 210 countries and territories through its annual Freedom in the World report. Individual freedomsóranging from the right to vote to freedom of expression and equality before the lawócan be affected by state or nonstate actors. Overall, the global decline in democracy has continued, and authoritarianism grown, with the pandemic a big factor.

And let's be honest here. Nations that abstained, like Mexico, have their own reasons for continuing trade agreements that have absolutely nothing to do with approving Russia's murderous imperialism, or Putin. The tiny few that support Russia are themselves authoritarian pariah states, now colluding against the rest of the world to export their corruption and authoritarianism.
