(9,971 posts)He seemed more of a go get um person. I thought at the time, and still do, that Garland is too conservative and too resistant to rocking any boats to do the cleanup needed at the DOJ and to prosecute Trump for crimes committed. Mueller laid out evidence of 10 counts of obstruction of justice. All the investigation was already done and the evidence put before a grand jury. Even Mueller said that the reason he brought no charges was the DOJ rule about not indicting a sitting president. Trump hasnt been president for almost a year. The Mueller report has been effectively buried with no indictments. Perhaps it would have looked political to indict him, but he committed obstruction and got away with it. Any future Republican president can do the same because they are evidently held to different standards of justice.
Trump committed insurrection on live television by encouraging rally attendees to go to the Capitol and stop the acceptance of the EC votea legitimate government function meant to be prevented by his mob. When nothing gets done about the planners and funders of the insurrection by the DOJ, the public can rightfully conclude that no laws were broken because the DOJ is doing nothing. If anything, the silence at the DOJ undermines the legitimacy of the Jan. 6 commission.
