In reply to the discussion: Walmart is tempting me to steal from them [View all]LisaL
(44,972 posts)29. Well, you go to shelves, pick the items, put them into your cart.
Do you consider that labor? I have been ordering delivery during the pandemic. So somebody is doing all of that for me. Why is scanning the items any more of a labor than picking those items from store shelves?
And thou shell not steal.

I am sure all stores have calculated a specific amount of shrink into self-checkout.

Wal*Mart's the exception. They've turned the self-checkout into a profit center.

Don't go to Europe. You have to bring your own bags, pay a deposit for a cart, and bag your items.

Self checkout works even for many items if there are 2 of you. When we shop we take 2 carts.

A store can pick their own check out polices..don't see why what they pick is license to steal.

Don't do it. They have sensors for anything that is not scanned and goes out the store.

I assume you go to Wal-mart for lower prices. Why be upset at their strategies for lowering prices?

I like self-checkout. No cashier's hands on my stuff, and it's several times faster.
