(21,433 posts)33. In one store, the register clerk insisted
that covid is no worse than the flu. I asked what made her so sure of that. She said her doctor told her. I said I doubted that. She switched to saying that she knew because she had it twice. I asked if she was tested both times and she said yes. Then she said she was a nurse. I asked why she was working in a retail store. She said it was part time after retiring. She appeared to be around 35, but might have been older.
I said she had changed her story too many times to be credible. She just gave me a smug grin.
I thought of a better answer later, of course. When she said it was like the flu, I wish I had said, "Yeah, the 1918 Spanish flu."
