Good players don't need to cheat.
There's a mountain of difference between a 4 & a 12. Almost a stroke every other hole. A guy who beats a 92 by 16-18 strokes has no need to cheat.
And, you can't go by pros' comments about an amateur's game.
Since they're a light year better, they tend to be very kind when describing some club player's game.
I played in a couple of LPGA pro-ams. The pros I played with were effusive in their praise of my game, and at the time I had, at best, a 1 in 3 chance of making the cut in their tournament.
But, to hear their compliments, you'd think I was the next Nicklaus.
He could have shot a 100 and they still would have publicly said he was "pretty good". (Of course, if he shot 100, he'd say he shot 81.)
Remember, sycophant li'l Linz said he shot a 73 one day. If Graham said 73, it means he can't possibly shoot a 73. Otherwise, sucking up would be reporting a 65.
