In reply to the discussion: Why Are Elders Getting Vaccination Priority? [View all]MyMission
(1,849 posts)That's your choice. I was only trying to help, and didn't suggest you refresh it all day long. I often check DU or weather or news sites several times a day, to see up to date information. If I were trying to schedule an appointment I'd check a few times throughout the day.
Those who are determined to get a vaccine have used that site, and after a few attempts, or only one, they've been able to schedule an appointment. It can take persistence.
I'll compare it to political involvement. If I don't contact my representatives or don't vote, just wait for them to change things or tell me what and where and when and who then I'm taking a passive approach rather than an active one. A representative government can not represent us if we don't make our voices heard. Sometimes I take a step back, why bother when all my reps are rethugs? I understand how one can get discouraged about taking action, when it doesn't seem to yield results. But eventually I write another letter, make another phone call, post several comments and I feel like I'm taking action on things I consider important.
I didn't realize there were drug stores with vaccines in my area until I read it here on DU.
It's like being in a store that has 8 checkout stations with only one or two open. Now they've opened a few more lanes with the drug stores, and with this new vaccine. Many are happy to move to these new lanes. Ultimately it will make all these lines for vaccines move faster, even as more people become eligible.
I hope you get your vaccine sooner rather than later!
