This has nothing to do with evidence for most Republicans in Congress, and everything to do with not giving a damn about the truth.
We're already far, far beyond the point where it's possible to deny the facts, well beyond any reasonable standard for what should be considered impeachable offenses. Republicans don't care how shameless and transparent their denial of reality and responsibility is. As long as their deluded "base" approves, and gives them the best shot they've got at staying in power, that's the only thing that matters.
