I don't even think they would with 1 day left. So I don't think that would work.

I think he pardons himself. The constitution doesn't say the president can't pardon him/herself from crimes. It only limits pardons to impeachment.

Such a case would take years to get through the court system.

The question is will Trump pardon those who have been arrested for the siege on the Capitol? I think he will. I think it will be a blanket pardon, much in the way Carter issued a blanket pardon to draft-dodgers who fled to Canada.
