they're wrong....if they're honest, anyway. The question isn't if they're wrong or not, it's how wrong are they and why. So many things can go wrong, from not guessing which segments will actually show up at the polls in large numbers to just randomness in sampling. Humans don't act with the precision and consistency of Newtonian mechanics, so some would say it's foolish to expect any reasonable amount of certainty in applying mathematics to human behavior. But some brave souls still try.
