It's not the David Lynch blood-on-the-streets version of "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" that I somehow survived when I was young and very naive.

Some of the characters in my life's movie were better people in the end because they were dead and no longer able to inflict their hellish Christian "values" on anyone else.

One of the worst days of my life was when my girlfriend's girlfriend tried to kill herself in my bathtub, one Thanksgiving weekend more than forty years ago. One of the better days was her stepdad's funeral. It's possible people were pissing on his grave the day after, maybe even that night.

One learns forgiveness, realizes that not everyone has the strength to break away from the cruel faiths hammered into them by others, but along with this one also realizes there are certain people who embrace these faiths, or are embraced by these faiths, because they like to hurt people.
