That people want the economy to remain open regardless of the risk.

In some cases it may be because they are not worried about the severity. But in some cases, I think they might understand the severity and want it to stay open anyway out of economic necessity. It is a sad state of affairs but working class people in the US may simply realize that they have to work even if it risks their lives.

You could try to make the argument that winning these seats will allow for Government support so they don't have to risk their lives. But that is a much more complicated argument to make. And I am not even sure it is true since turtle will still be able to muck things up even as a minority party in the Senate.
