Back in the 60s and early 70s I spent many happy hours at the Carnegie in Pittsburgh, which was totally free. I don't remember what they charge per visit today, but I'm paying $200 a year for a preferred membership.

Also, I seem to recall that national parks didn't charge you to visit.
