Post Offices after sending mail bombs to Hillary Clinton and several other people. The shut Post Offices didn’t postmark late send ballots, without postmarks, they were not accepted. Florida Democrats sued to try to get them accepted, but the Federal Courts ruled against us, we live in probably the second most conservative Appeals Court Circuit in the country, next to the Fifth Circuit which rules Texas and other Southwestern states.
I never heard how many late mailed ballots were invalidated for no postmark, but early estimates said there were likely tens of thousands of ballots lost that way. DeSantis was elected with about a 24,000 vote margin, if I remember correctly. Since the regions that had Post Offices closed gives Democrats big margins, several estimates that I read said that their lost votes were likely critical in Bill Nelson’s Senate lost (by 900 votes) and likely Gillum’s gubernatorial loss.
The invalidation is why I go into a quiet rage when I read that people are sitting on mailin ballots instead of immediately turning them around. As far as I am concerned, anyone who mailed a ballot after Thursday (October 15) is an idiot, it is better to take the finished ballot to the registrar’s office where that is allowed, or as in Florida - take it into an early voting station that opens on Monday and surrender the ballot for an in person ballot - OR drop the properly finished ballot into a registrar Dropbox that also go into place starting on Monday - just don’t drop it so that it sits overnight.
