(322 posts)So the suggestion has been made that this supposed anti-Islam film (whihc I have not seen) should be banned, because it "incites violence." I just don't see that. If the film had encouraged a mob to go kill Muslims, and then they did, then I could see the point. But that is not what the film did, as far as I know. Instead, the situation is just about the opposite. The film apparently is against Islam, but it doesn't advocate killing Muslims. Rather, the film (or even the idea of the film) angers mobs of Muslims, and then they go and commit acts of violence. So it's just the opposite.
So I agree with those here--and I'm glad to see there are many--who say the film should not be banned, even if we don't like it. That's part of freedom of speech.
