8. People are just waking up to the wide range of viruses that circulate worldwide nearly continually.

Coxsackieviruses are among them. None of this is new.

If your kid ever experienced an outbreak of "hand, foot and mouth disease" in school or daycare--a condition that causes rashes on the extremities thus earning the name, this is a result of seasonal enterovirus spread--specifically one of several coxsackieviruses. Highly infectious, but self-limiting in this case.
