1. Society didn't collapse as a result of the 1918 influenza pandemic

and that killed an estimated 50-100 million people worldwide.

Production and distribution ramps up, more stores put limits on purchases to prevent someone from buying everything, people have a few weeks of food and toilet paper at home and panic less and the stores fill up again. How much food do you really think people want to have at home?
