4. Many or most people probably have enough to make it through a week or two--
even though they would not be eating their favorites or desired foods and thus think they have nothing to eat. Do lots of people really shop EVERY day? Have no canned or pantry nonperishable goods?
Maybe you ran out of paper towels? Go pull those old worn out ripped khakis out of the wash or towels with holes and rip them up to use. No kleenex? Bathroom tissue (and vice versa). Etc. Etc. There are lots of temporary substitutions for those things we think we must have...Out of coffee? Time to use up all that tea that has cluttered the shelves for a year or more. Honestly, I think most of us could wait a couple of weeks for things to be restocked. Being prepared is good, but I think we can keep this side of "worst-case assumptions" at least for now. |
