(146,262 posts)74. I was in the choir, too, both at school and at the church I attended.
Same choir director at both places, actually. All of the good band musicians could sing. They had a head start because they could already read music, so the choir director was always after the band kids to join the choir. For most, that was too much music for high school, since there was so much else to do. But, I didn't mind, so I did both.
In our small town, both the band director and the choir director were very good teachers and encouraging people. We were very lucky.
