and I was reminded of it during the August 2003 blackout. Interestingly, Hubby and I were travelling from Toronto down to our weekend abode just north of N'Falls. Fortunately, a fellow in the N'Falls power station saw what was about to happen and flipped a switch which kept the power on in the Niagara Peninsula. Kind of ironic! Our trip from Toronto took more than twice as long as all the stoplights were out -- took forever to get out of the city.

Paper ballots would be "de rigueur" if only you folks had an effective, workable, totally non-partisan FEC.
