There's no reason to take up challenges demanded by the opposition if you have no reason to.

There's no requirement for it. There's nothing to be gained from it.

Every vote spends political capital. Why spend it if you don't need to.

What they should be doing is flooding the airwaves with issue ads about Trump's lack of a foreign policy and enriching himself.
