(43,302 posts)Sebelius in KS, and Bullock in MT are the ONLY (literally) Dems who can win those two states, and both would also be instant favourites I am fairly sure. These are the two worst refusals, along with Tim McGraw, who has for YEARS (at least since 2004, when I was 8 years old, lolol) said he wants to someday run for the Senate for TN. Well, goddamn it, so it! This is BY far his best opportunity. Open seat, and a hated Trump running at top of ticket. What the hell is he waiting for??
I think Begich in Alaska will choose to jump in, but in Maine, I do not think Susan Rice can be convinced (you can go for it!) and I think Sara Gideon can beat Collins anyway.
I see many saying Biden, if he wins the nomination, will pick Rice for VP, but I do not see it, due to that instantly opening up the whole RW Benghazi shit, and Biden has shown to be risk-adverse and now is FALSELY embroiled in the Ukraine bullshit, so the last thing he wants is for another old fake scandal to have to deal with.
Stacey Abrams IS more than likely the favourite (along with Harris) to be Biden's VP pick, IMHO and she deffo will not run for Senate this time around. I will be upset if she is not chosen which means she refused to run for nothing, especially as GA has TWO seats up for grabs. Hope Yates and Ossoff can pull it off, IF Yates does run.
Iowa is frustrating too, but I hope Theresa Greenfield can pull it off. I understand Axne's decision, but not the even stronger Vilsack.
North Carolina (with both Stein and Foxx refusing to run) is also close to the top for frustration level. Either would smash Burr. I guess we have to hope Cal Cunningham can pull it off. Hopefully he runs a better campaign that his previous losing one in 2010 (granted he was only 36 then.) He does have a great resume, and is an Iraq combat vet too. He will make a great Senator if he wins.
Kentucky and Texas are the two toughest. Andy Beshear is hopefully going to win the 2019 KY Governor election against the white nationalist fundie scum Bevin, so that leaves McGrath. McTurtle will pull out all the stops to lie, cheat, and steal a win. Texas is even harder, Cornyn is not Cruz, and I do not think Beto could pull it off either. All we can do is help MJ Hegar.
