to get Nixon to resign.

Someone might negotiate that with Pence, but Pence has a bit of the snake to him... he might just renege and not pardon Trump.

Something different with Nixon-- he might have committed a state (or DC) jurisdiction crime (covering up the provenance of the original burglary, bribing the burglars), but most of his crimes were definitely federal.

Trump has a lot of probable state crimes-- financial crimes, to start with, but paying off Daniels and the National Enquirer and lying on official forms and probably state income tax fraud-- AND a NY AG who isn't cowed at all by him.

So even if Pence pardons him (like right after the election), the state crimes will still exist. Thing is, Trump's going to be old and maybe pretty senile by next year, and maybe because of that, he won't be brought to justice.
