I got it in my hotel in Kyoto a couple days later
I argued for a while with Air Canada - they said it was my fault,.--I believed it was their fault. Long story.
I got over it and enjoyed Kyoto.

It wasn't that long ago that a passport could be expired for up to 6 months without problems.

In 1997 my wife's Green Card had expired and we were detained in LA on return from NZ.
