2. The loss of family farms has been going on for a very long time.

Part of the reason for this is the nearly complete takeover of agriculture by mega-corporations like Agri-Corp and Monsanto. But another part is that it is simply too expensive to run a small farm anymore. Local farmers can't compete with corporate food pricing, which is one reason they have depended on government subsidies for so long.

But Trump's tariffs aren't helping anything.
