(4,446 posts)Just so you know, this isn't specifically aimed at you, but I get really tired of the "Gaia" junk that anthropomorphizes the planet. The planet won't "see" anything because it's a giant ball of rock and metal. It won't have an opinion. It is completely inanimate. It does not and has never attempted or experimented anything. It has no goals and no volition.
Intelligence is not an "attempt" at anything except for survival. It is definitely beneficial to generation-to-generation survival of genes in a population; therefore, it will inevitably rise again should our intelligence be extinguished. Perhaps not to the same degree, or in a fashion with which we could readily communicate, but it will rise again.
I really wish that people would stop posting things from the "point of view" of the planet - treating it as if it's some kind of organism is on the Akin level of scientific literacy; it's incredibly stupid.
