....to thousands of travelers from Europe who were grounded for two or three days in 2001 when our airports were all closed.

That was a great story, worth looking up and reading.

ZNY is on Long Island, that a long way from Newfoundland, that's great (Ronkonkoma is about in the middle of Long Island)
