AP referred to him as a front-runner or one of the front-runners. Google produces other headlines: "Bernie Sanders 'front-runner' for 2020 nomination" "Bernie Sanders is already a front-runner for the Democrats" "Bernie Sanders is the Democrats' real 2020 front-runner."
