I've never seen someone let go based on the complaint of one customer, since the customer could have an agenda or could just be in a bad mood themselves. While I have sympathy for people who lose their jobs through no fault of their own (layoffs, business closings, etc.,) failing to meet the requirements of the position is an acceptable reason for a business to part ways with an employee. Anyone who has worked in the customer service industry before knows that the chance for repeat business by a customer has a greater chance of being affected by bad customer service than good customer service. Same goes for word of mouth advertising. The business itself, and by extension every other employee of that business, can be hurt by allowing someone who is not qualified for their position to continue working it just for the sake of not wanting to let somebody go. If he does need to be let go, the company will most likely hire someone to replace him. Another American who was previously out of work, but now is not, and hopefully is a better fit for the position. The former employee will hopefully learn from the experience and not repeat it in the future.
