KKK members on the force tried to recruit him after he left the academy. He reported them. From then on he was assigned an African American partner to work with - it was too much of a risk (to him) to assign him a white partner after that. That happened a while ago - maybe the 80's, but is sure as hell wasn't the 50's. Don't have time now to check your links but I can believe it is still happening now. And there no doubt still are white cops like my friend. Trouble is they all look alike in their blue uniforms and you don't know who you are getting.
