my family lives there and I used to live there -- and agree about the earth hippie thing as I was basically in that category while at the same time being a descendant of Vermonters -- but on my last trip it was different. There were a lot of slick ex-New Yorkers around and all these businesses have sprouted up to appeal to a monied set. Burlinton is a quick, cheapish plane ride from JFK. Some people have houses for summer only, I don't remember that being so big before.

It feels like it's become a luxurious kind of getaway, I do exaggerate to make a point but something has changed.

Plus, there were a lot more luxury cars on the road, and way fewer beaters.
