Two strips of 2" crepe ribbon folded back and forth over each other. Must be two SEPARATE strips, and it helps to leave a little tail on one of them.
With the tail hanging down, put the folded square of paper cornerwise into your circled thumb and forefinger.
Now pull the tail. Keep pulling. Pull some more. A turn of tape, or a dab of glue in the right place will keep what remains from unravelling.
Reuse the tail as the non-tail piece in the next flower.
