before 2010. MN mostly has being electing Democrats. These differences in outcomes are seen between red and blue states and thousands of municipalities all around the nation.
I'd love to retire to a good liberal city with their typically excellent amenities but can't afford to. It's conservative for us because the wellbeing created by liberal governance, and the people and dynamic businesses that attracts, raise real estate prices above our diminished means.
It is unfortunate that too many commenters disrespect the many millions in red states who always vote blue and instead callously insult red and blue with the same brush. Believe me, as a GA liberal, I have complete sympathy with WI liberals, and other WI Democrats.
But this is a teaching moment. 
Too many even here on DU were raised in an atmosphere permeated with Republican Kool-Aid and do not realize what a really good party we are, that we are very far from just being the better of two bad choices.
