I am not panicked but I am certainly concerned WRT the President's performance in the first debate. That DOES NOT make me a "bed-wetter". I fully expect President Obama to turn the tables on Mittens in rounds 2 & 3, but calling concerned Democrats names does little to firm up support or inspire.

(103,252 posts)He also spoke often of having to calm the "bedwetters"his term for supporters and others who freaked out whenever disconcerting, but ultimately inconsequential, developments arose.
Right after the first debate of 2012 had ended, Plouffe, now a senior adviser, offered a variation on that, saying the Obama campaign doesn't "believe in decisive moments."

The FT article doesn't say he's said it this year, just a generic:
David Plouffe, a senior presidential adviser, blames such periodic outbreaks of panic on the bed-wetters in the Democratic party.
But DUers couldn't get all outraged with a DU thread titled "Plouffe doesn't believe in decisive moments", so the 4 year old quote gets the play.

(277 posts)I don't know when this was said but just stop it now! This does us no good to turn against our own. Focus...Forward.

(277 posts)This link has NOTHING! What are you talking about what Plouffe said? Are you trying to stir up something>

(2,064 posts)the ads that DU loads into posts sometimes cuts links addresses in half. You can search Financial Times for "Obama Campaign Trys To Quell Panic", the Plouffe quote is in the 3rd paragraph IIRC,

(277 posts)Time is of the essence ! We have got to regroup and stop whining. We have a terrific Pres and we have got to stop eating our own. I did not see our Pres doing as bad as some Pundits did. They want a horse race. Let's get our shit together and attack Rmoney instead of our own.

He just keep quiet until after the election and focus on helping Obama more than he did last week.

(18,402 posts)This kind of makes me laugh. Thousands of posts here the last week dishing out complaints, fears, advice ... with plenty of foul language and insults being flung.
But heaven forfend someone (in charge) should tell you to chill. Oh my, Miss Mergatroyd, pass me the smelling salts!

(1,437 posts)I can't believe how much people are freaking out over this nonsense. You act as if you've never been through an election before. The numbers go up and down. They tighten as you get closer to election day. ALWAYS happens.
Quit pissing the bed and relax. Obama's a lock.
