Where do they hire their editors? Surely, not from Journalism School.

I'm not a Journalist and have no degree in that area but I do know a little about grammar. This title from

"Brooklyn woman fatally struck by hit-and-run car thief was returning from park with critically hurt 8-year-old grandson" in the NY Daily News[rag], just made me want to cry, not only because of the terrible thing that happened but because of the terrible title of the story.

Here I was thinking this poor woman while carrying her critically ill grandson got killed by a car, but no, she was killed and he was critically injured by the car. The Editor should have caught that and changed it to, perhaps,

"While returning from park, Brooklyn woman fatally struck and her 8 year-old grandson critically injured by hit-and-run car thief".

Juneteenth Being Commercialized

There seems to be shock that Juneteenth is being commercialized.

To paraphrase the line in Casablanca "I'm shocked, shocked to find that commercialization is going on in here!"

Are they kidding? There isn't a single national holiday holiday that hasn't been commercialized. From schlock products to sales on everything and anything. Even non national holidays like Easter, Mothers or Fathers Days, and every other day of recognition (National Ice Cream Day" e.g) is just commercialized. So why the surprise? In a country where, sadly enough, we turn days to honor people and events into an opportunity to sell something, why do we find it terrible that it happens with yet another day that was meant to be a Day of Remembrance?

At least it's not an attempt to sell cars, linens, or barbecue grills. On the other hand, it might be a good day to sell "White Right Wing Nuts"!
