If someone believes in god, they can justify ANY ACTION on behalf of their god
Flying planes into the WTC
Storming the Capitol to make Trump dictator
Sending pipe bombs to Democratic congresspeople
etc etc etc
And in the US Marines at that...
EVERYONE gets offended by something
When a right winger says they don't get offended I show them the "Jesus Fucking Christ" toon (Christians, I don't think you want to Google that, just saying)
They say it's blasphemy and then I remind them they are offended
And this seems especially true with MY generation, good ol' X
Mussolini tried to make a "Third Rome" (Rome, Holy Roman Empire, Fascist Italy)
Hitler tried to make a "Third Rome" (same same, except with Nazi Germany)
Some nationalistic Orthodox have viewed the idea of a Third Rome, except it being Rome, Byzantine Empire and then Russia
Stone ground grits, cooked in a quick shrimp stock I made from the shells
Later added butter and cheddar
Cooked the diced bacon, then cooked the shrimp in the grease, readded the bacon with scallions, parsley and pepper flakes
Served with a side of collard greens cooked in (guess what) bacon and water
Turned out great but only had one hitch, there were some lumps in the grits
Any suggestions from those who know grits?
I love his work with Kyuss and Queens of the Stone Age
Especially his work with Mark Lanegan (RIP)
But he's a domestic abuser, a stalker, and an all around mean drunk who has almost killed people
So what do I make of all that?
CAN you separate the art from the artist?
I mean other than the Nietzschean argument?
I see it beyond his lament that the enlightenment killed god in our minds
I see it as a necessary evolutionary aspect in which we throw off the chains of "magic thinking" and move towards a more positivist world
And Russia is playing the role of Germany?
Remember that the Spanish Civil War was the prologue to WW2
Funny, I hope it belongs here
Very inconvenient class! Always holds lectures on top of mountains, in middle of the Sea of Galileebut never close to the main campus.
Inconsistent attendance policy. Said we had to be in class by 9:00 a.m. every day. Over half the class showed up late or didnt attend until the last meeting, but we all got the same participation grade.
Hes nice enough, I guess, but he doesnt vet his TAs: they all provide completely different, conflicting lecture notes. (TIP: Try to get in Lukes section.)
By week one, I was already tired of his anti-rich, pro-Samaritan bullshit. I wanted to take a course in Christianity, not liberalism.
Wears sandals too much. No one wants to see your dusty feet.
